Young Scholar Support through the International Book Studies Society (IBG)

Young Scholar Support through the International Book Studies Society (IBG)

In 2010, the IBG, upon the initiative of Dr. Anke Vogel (Institute for Book Studies in Mainz), founded a forum for young scholars inviting them to participate in an exchange among themselves and with older generations of scholars. In the establishment phase of the IBG young scholars’ forum, a young scholars’ conference was held every two years with a virtually impossible workload for the director of the programme. Since 2017, however, academic workshops of young book studies scholars have been supported and financially backed by the IBG and are generally non-centrally organised and carried out by groups of young scholars in German-speaking countries.

To a limited extent, the IBG also funds book studies projects and the work of young scholars. For example, it is possible to apply for travel costs for archive and library research or printing cost grants. Please submit your application (short exposé, cost calculation, etc.) to the office  theresa.lang@buchwiss.de.
